UN Mappers Mapping Championship
On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, we are offering our volunteers a truly exceptional competition: the UN Mappers Mapping Championship! Test your mapping skills, map with us, and climb to the podium!
How it works
From today until the end of the month, map the roads in our Jammu & Kashmir project: https://tasks.hotosm.org/projects/16817
The mapper with the highest number of edits and the best mapping quality (pay attention to geometry and road classification!) will secure first place, earning the title of Mapper of the Month and will be featured on our blog and social media. The participants who achieve second and third place will also be mentioned in the final results.
Rules
• All OSM mappers are eligible to participate.
• Previous Mappers of the Month are allowed to participate.
• All changesets must include the hashtag #UNMappers (this is automatically included in the project setup; do not remove it!).
• Edits must be made within the tasks specified by the project and should focus on the road network.
• Newly created objects will be valued more highly than those with minor geometry modifications.
• Both the quantity and quality of edits will be considered to determine the winner.
• Regarding data quality, incorrect edits will be excluded, including but not limited to rivers mapped as roads, overextraction, roads with unnecessary nodes, inaccurately drawn roads, or incorrectly classified roads.
• The competition will start on August 5 and will end on August 31 at 11:59 PM CEST, or when all the project tasks have been completed, whichever comes first.
• Results will be announced in early September, and the winner will be contacted for an interview.
• The top three participants will receive an official certificate of appreciation.
We wish you all a great competition and lots of fun! Ready, set, map!
